The University in its efforts to assist the needy but brilliant students to have greater access to Higher Education had set up the Students Financial Services Office (SFSO) to collaborate with organizations, institutions and NGOs to support students financially, in the form of bursaries and scholarship.
In addition to the above the University had instituted the Work and Study Programme, to assist needy students to work for some wages on campus for their up keep.
The office has been monitoring the attitudes and performance of the students at their various work places, and receives reports from their superiors, at the end of the semester.
Both positive and negative reports have been received, in views of these; the S.F.S.O. organized a one day orientation for all the students on the work and study programme for the first semester of the 2013/2014 academic year to prepare them for the programme.

Issues discussed included, punctuality at work showing commitment and responsibility to work, time management, financial management, good body hygiene, etc.
Students at the end of the discussions also asked pertinent questions, about delays in the payment of their wages, and withdrawal from the work.
At the end of the session students were very appreciative and expressed the desire to have such orientation programs regularly as it has really prepared them for the work ahead after school, and helped them to manage themselves well on campus.
